Mitzie Hunter, MPP for Scarborough-Guildwood today issued the following statement on the 72nd Independence Day of India:
“Today we join the people of India and Indo-Canadian communities across Ontario in celebrating the 72nd anniversary of Indian independence.
The Indian community has and does continue to contribute greatly to Ontario. We are blessed with many heritages, languages and religions – it allows us to experience the diversity and multiculturalism that our country is known for.
I invite all Ontarians to recognize the important contributions that the more than 700 thousand Ontarians of Indian ancestry make to the fabric of our province.
On behalf of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, I offer my best wishes to all celebrating Indian Independence Day.”
