MPP Mitzie Hunter Community Update

  • Community Update

Dear Friends,

I hope you and your families are keeping safe and well.

On Monday, Canadians will celebrate Thanksgiving. Like so many other events this year, Ontarians are being asked to change how they celebrate, by avoiding gathering with friends and family and instead having a meal with those living in your household.

Wherever possible, keep each other safe by gathering virtually. I wish you all an enjoyable, safe Thanksgiving weekend!

October is Islamic Heritage Month. This time last year, I visited Cornell Junior Public School for their first-ever Islamic Heritage Month Assembly. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Islam.

If you have any events, updates, or stories from your neighbourhood that you’d like to share, please get in touch!

Warm regards,

Motion 110

On Monday October 5, Mitzie introduced a motion that reads:

“That, in the opinion of this House, the government must rise to meet the urgent needs facing Ontarians during the COVID-19 pandemic and address worsening issues in housing, poverty, mental health, long-term care, education, job creation, crime, and violence; and that calling an election before the fixed date in 2022 would put politics ahead of public health and interrupt the ongoing COVID-19 response with a serious human toll in the short and long-term.”

The motion carried unanimously. You can watch Mitzie’s debate at the link below.
