MPP Mitzie Hunter April 9 8:00 PM COVID-19 Update

  • Community Update

I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.

I wish a joyous Passover, Good Friday and Easter to all celebrating this week. While physical distancing will change how families and communities celebrate, I hope that those celebrating will find joy and take comfort in their faith, and find alternate ways to celebrate this year.

Today, my office assembled and began distributing thank-you cards & care packages to staff and frontline care workers at local long term care & retirement homes. We are grateful for their dedication and support to those in their care.

Province Updates COVID-19 Testing Guidelines

The province is now recommending that those who have been newly admitted or re-admitted to long-term care or retirement homes should be tested for COVID-19 even if they are not showing symptoms of the virus.

The new guidelines state that all healthcare workers, caregivers, care providers and first responders should be “tested as soon as is feasible” if they start to display symptoms, including atypical ones.Residents living remote, isolated, rural, and indigenous communities should be tested if they are displaying one or more symptoms of COVID-19.
