“I am thrilled that today my colleagues supported Bill 166, The Toronto Ranked Ballot Elections Act, and that it now moves on to the committee stage. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues at Queen’s Park as well as community leaders, activists and the public so we can get this Bill back before the Legislature for a final vote. Municipal elections by ranked ballot will enhance our local democracy, encourage greater civic participation and as a life-long city builder I couldn’t be happier to see this initiative move forward.”
