This has been a difficult week for the people of Scarborough-Guildwood. Our community was hit hard by the power outages following the ice storm last weekend. The city and Toronto Hydro, as well as theProvinceofOntariohave been working hard to get everyone back on the grid. I am grateful to the crews who have worked through Christmas and given up their holidays.
Throughout this week, my focus has been on making Scarborough-Guildwood a priority for Toronto Hydro and the City of Toronto, 1) getting power restored for residents and 2) getting support and resources to those who need it.
I have visited the warming centres which have been set up and encourage those without power to go. On Tuesday I worked with TCHC to arrange special TTC buses to get access for residents to warming centres. On Christmas Day, I was able to meet with residents anxious about the outage and delivered meals. On Boxing Day I was joined by Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne as we met with residents in TCHC and heard their concerns about the response inScarborough.
While many have had power restored, many still are without power. If you or someone you know doesn’t have power, contact Toronto Hydro at 416-542-8000 or contact my constituency office and we will work with officials and Toronto Hydro to make sure power is reconnected as soon as possible and put you in touch with resources to help.

My office is open and your calls and emails are being responded to. While our community has been hit hard by the ice storm, know that I am working hard to make sure our community gets the response and resources we need.
