With summer behind us and autumn at our doorstep, it is important to remember that unfortunately, many families go hungry during fall season. This fall, Mitzie Hunter, MPP for Scarborough-Guildwood would like to encourage all residents to support the Food Banks that serve our community. The work that Food Banks do is critically important to serve vulnerable Ontarians and families in need.
Great progress has been made through our government’s Poverty Reduction Strategy. In the first three years of the Strategy, approximately 47,000 children and their families were lifted out of poverty. We know that more can be done and that’s why the Ontario Government is developing a renewed Poverty Reduction Strategy. For more information on the Ontario Government’s renewed commitment to poverty reduction, please visit:
While the government takes a province-wide approach to strategically reducing poverty, each of us can do our part by helping in our own communities. Please, support our local Food Banks and if you can, give generously this fall season.
