MPP Hunter’s Second Annual Summer Fun Fest and Community BBQ a Success!

Over 500 Residents and Friends of Scarborough-Guildwood Attended this Year’s Community Event

August 8, 2016 – Mitzie Hunter, MPP Scarborough-Guildwood held her annual Summer Fun Fest and Community BBQ at Morningside Park this past Sunday, August 7, 2016.

With over 500 attendees and more than 60 dedicated volunteers, the community event was a tremendous success bringing out residents and friends from across Scarborough-Guildwood.

The day began with an opening prayer from Native Child and Family Services’ Matthew Green, followed by welcoming remarks and awards presented by MPP Hunter. While attendees enjoyed the food (including halal and vegetarian options) and various children’s activities, comedian Ian Brown led the entertainment and slate of talented performances as Master of Ceremonies (MC).

Performances of the day included Vince Cato (Steelpan Maestro), Mya Water singing O Canada, Rajanie and the Tamil Dancers, The Scarborough Ontario Seniors Association (SOSA) Line Dancers and Choral Group, University of Toronto Bachata Dancers, Tamla Matthews and Caribbean Dance Theatre, and Charmie Deller.

The event was made possible by MPP Hunter's office staff, volunteers and partner organizations, which included City of Toronto, Enbridge, 43 Division Toronto Police Service, Toronto Fire Fighters Association, The East Scarborough Boys and Girls Club, Invisible Crown Kids, Healthy Living Through Arts and McDonald’s (at Kingston Rd and Lawrence Ave E).
